Why Im not breastfeeding (Trigger Warning)

So everytime I go to the WIC office or doctors they always give me brestfeeding information. They say its mandatory but I find it really annoying. My hubby always says "Why dont you breastfeed we could save money?" He knows why. When I was 15 I was sexually assulted by my bestfriends dad. He pinned me down forced my shirt and bra above my head and started sucking on my nipples. So Im sorry that the thought of anything touching my nipples makes me sick. My doctor told me to go to counseling but I cant afford it and it angers me that no one understands my discomfort. Especially my husband.

I guess counseling wouldn’t hurt but even if you did that it wouldn’t mean you need to be breastfeeding right now. You’re not prepared for that and it doesn’t mean you’re a subpar momma.

You have every right to decide not to breast feed .. it’s. It not written in stone that you have too.. fed is best .. hold your baby close and just love .. I am so sorry that happened to you .. try not to let other people pressure you into doing something your aren’t comfortable with.. you are the momma and do what you feel is best for you and baby.

Don’t let anyone try and put you down or pressure you to do anything you do not want to. I completely understand why you would not feel comfortable breastfeeding. That seems like a no brainer to me considering what happened to you. Babies can sense the mother’s emotions while breastfeeding so if you are uncomfortable, chances are that baby is going to be uncomfortable. 
Take care of you and don’t give up standing for what you believe is best for you and your baby. Like someone else said above; fed is best.

As someone who has been molested from the ages of 10 to 13 by my step dad, I can tell you that the bond you create with your child can heal you very much. As long as your child is fed then that's great but you should attempt to breastfeed. I think it could help you. It would help you associate your breast with something positive rather than negative. As for seeking counseling, you definitely should. If you can qualify for WIC then I'm sure counseling would be covered or you'll pay a small copay of $15 or less. It seems like you're not even close to healing from that traumatic event so it's in your best interest and childs best interest to seek help.
