Maternity leave ???

So ive decidedly take 6 months maternity leave ... and being a first time mum I didn’t think it was necessary to start maternity leave any early then a week before my due date ... I’m not thinking I’ve made a mistake... when should I start my maternity leave ????? Helppppp 
And how will I tell/ask my boss this ????

i worked up to the day i had my son i would rather be home with the new baby than sit around waiting for them to come. I just did everything before he got here.

tell them sooner than later so they can plan for you to be off.  Idk where you live but I'm in Florida, USA. Here my job position isn't guaranteed if I take more than 12 weeks off for maternity.

With my first I worked up to 38 weeks then I started my maternity leave and two days later he was born. I had 12 months off work. 
With my second son I went on mat lvl at 30 weeks and had him at 40 +2 and I return to work 17 months later.
I’m now pregnant with our daughter and I’m going on maternity lvl at 33weeks and have put lvl in till November 2019. As I live in Australia and we get 2 years maternity lvl  with job security.

I think it depends on your job. Very unlikely that I'll be able to work beyond 37 weeks due to the nature of my job. My work are also able to request a 'fitness for work' certificate beyond 36 weeks. I get 12+ months maternity leave though, so I'm pretty flexible.

I worked until the day my daughter was born and I will do that again if I can. It was amazing to have my whole maternity leave be with my baby. It also kept me busy in the last days of pregnancy!

I am going to start my maternity leave when my water breaks and I have the baby. First time mom. 19years old. Already 20 weeks, 2days. I work a mans factory job.

I'm not sure how it works where you are... have a backup plan just incase you go into labour earlier (mentally prepare that it could happen from 32 weeks onwards). Maybe start doing a handover from around 7 and a half months just in case.

Are you thinking that you won't have the energy to work or commute? Maybe speak to your boss about working from home.

I'm sure if there's a medical reason why you shouldn't be working the doctor will provide you with a medical note so there's no need to worry.

With my first I stopped work at 36 weeks and I honestly think it made those last few weeks DRAG ASS. It was horrible sitting at home alone all day doing nothing. I feel like that pregnancy was sooooo long. This time I’m working until baby comes. Currently 37+5 and going strong!
