Confused on how many wks I am?

Why does the doctor tell me I am 9 weeks....I should be 7 weeks bc I didn’t have sex those 2 weeks prior it was only around ovulation...so I know they count from my last period but when I go for my first ultrasound on May 11th will the ultrasound show that I am 7 weeks or 9? My sis was trying to explain but I just don’t get it

They go from the date of your last menstrual period because it is nearly impossible to pinpoint exact conception date. My last menstrual period was 12/24/17. I’m currently 18 weeks and 2 days. I know around when i ovulated but not exactly (apps are very general and not exact science they’re algorithms). My first ultrasound measured me about 2 days different than what I thought. They measure crown to rump as all babies at that stage grow at about the same rate. Hope that helps.

It goes by the date of your last menstrual cycle and assuming that you have a 28 day cycle.

They go off your last period until your ultrasound, then at the ultrasound they’ll measure the baby & know for sure how far along you are.
