being induced..

I'm being induced on the 21st at 39 weeks. I went to my doctors appointment today and was told I'm only a fingertip when I was checked. I've been told that since this is my second child I should dilate faster after being induced, is this true? I'm just so scared I won't have dilated from now until then and risk a c section if the induction didn't work.. Can anyone give me some advice? She said walking and sex COULD work but there are no guarantees.. I'm a single mother so sex is not an option.
