Kids and swearing

I didn’t hear too much swearing when I was in primary school but as soon as I hit highschool (it starts in year 7 where I live) it was absolutely everywhere. The kids at the school were ages 12-18 and you couldn’t walk between classes without swearing. It wasn’t hurtful stuff but I think swearing has become a bit of a casual thing now. I don’t think it’s as offensive or hurtful as it was a generation or 2 ago. What do you think, is kids swearing disrespectful or rude or is it not that bad?
