Is a pap normal at your first OB appt?

I’ll be 10 weeks with twins at my first 3 hour appt Wednesday. It will be with a midwife for my first one. I always read that many get a Pap smear is this true? I don’t want that lol. And I hope and assume there will be an ultrasound. Maybe bloodwork. I don’t know what else they could do in that many hours ! 😛

at my first appointment, it was 2 1/2 hrs long, I had an ultrasound, a pap smear, a breast exam and had a glucose test with a blood draw after it

I’ve never had a 3 hour appt lol but I’ve always gotten a pap at my first appt after testing positive (3 times, two singletons and now twins).

Nope I didn't get one at any of my appts and I'm almost 37 weeks with twins. Last pap was about 2 years ago and was normal after getting pre-cancerous cells scraped off my cervix previously.

I had one at my history/physical visit at 12 weeks. My OB always does a pap in early pregnancy. But every practice has different standards

Yes I have gotten a Pap smear at the beginning of both my pregnancies. I happened to be due for one anyways, so they did mine then. I would get it though, especially if you are due. It’s a check for cervical cancer and you definitely want to know about that, especially if you’re pregnant. It’s not anything weird or invasive. Just a quick exam and swipe of a cue tip.

usually they do just to make sure everything is okay that there isnt anything that can affect the pregnancy.

why wouldn't you want a pap smear? If you haven't had one recently yes they will give you one. it's kind of important.
