Short cervix?

Question

I keep seeing posts about having a short cervix by like 23 or so weeks and then having to do bed rest. How do you know it’s short? Does your doctor check you each appointment? My doctor said they don’t check me until I think after 32 weeks? So how would I know if something is wrong?

My MFM doc does a transvaginal US of my cervix every two weeks. So far, so good. 🤞🏼

I'm 24 +4 weeks and my Dr checked me once and then the rest of the appts he didn't until two weeks ago. He saw something in my ultrasounds and checked me. He said my cervix was short and put me on progesterone but no bed rest. Today he checked me again and it got worst so he said I'm lucky if I get to 28 weeks. I'm trying to relax and rest and hopefully make it closer to 30 weeks. I'm also carrying triplets btw.

Your Dr or ultrasound tech should be measuring your cervix via ultrasound. A vaginal exam is not necessary unless something looks wrong on ultrasound.

I be had mine checked weekly since 20 weeks mine is shortening and funneling I'm now on bedrest in the hospital cause I be now started dilating 🙃 hoping to keep these 2 in just a little bit longer. I'm only 24 weeks

After 18 weeks I had and appointment with my obgyn every 2 weeks, he noticed that my cervix got shorter at 23 weeks, everything was stable until now. I’m 29 weeks and yesterday he told me that I’m dilated.5. I put myself on bedrest but I’m going to call L&D;

They should do atrans signal ultrasound at 24 wks and every couple weeks till your 31 wks. 
My cervix began shortening at 27wks and I was put on bedrest. They put me on progesterone and now it’s much longer. I’m 31 wks now and I have been on Bedrest since 27wks. Hoping to keep these guys in till 36wks.

My MFM doc does a transvaginal ultrasound every two weeks to check cervix length. They found mine was shortening at 25 weeks. I haven’t been put on bed rest yet (I’m 30 weeks now), but they’ve restricted my walking and standing and tried a couple different meds to slow the shortening. I get checked once a week now and do a fetal fibronectin test every two weeks.
