can't kick this cough?

hi everyone, I went home for a visit and me and my daughter got sick, however she recovered much better than I did. it started as a sore throat then a cold and now a cough that I've had for 2 weeks +. It's in my chest and the mornings are the worst I cough so hard I gag. I'm not congested in my nose really though it's mostly just mucus in my chest. anyone know the best way to get rid of this?

My 1yo has something like this. Whenever he gets sick this cough sticks around foreverrrrrr the first time it was 4 months of him coughing all night and real bad in the morning (to the point he would throw up). His doctor directed us to an asthma doctor who prescribed different meds and nothing worked until he prescribed a nebulizer and albuterol. Within a few days of using the nebulizer his cough disappeared. We’ve had to use it to get his cough to go away every time he’s been sick. Doctor called it a post-viral syndrome. My mom has to do the same whenever she gets sick with a cough.

if you dont have a humidifier i put water and vix on the stove just enough so its warm and boils and steam it helped me if you dont have one
