PGS-yes or no?

I am starting IVF this month and doctor wants to know whether to do genetic screening? It’s $4100 for up to 4 embryoS and $200 for each additional embryo. For each additional embryo transfer it’s $3100. We are already paying sooooo much $ for the procedure and I’m thinking of not doing it but would love some feedback. What have your experiences been like?  Thank you in advance. This is a hard journey to walk!

I chose not to. Our dr left the decision up to us. Many doctors now are saying that PGS testing is unnecessary and even wasteful, as some "abnormalities " can correct themselves in the womb. Plus, for hells sakes,  it's freaking expensive!.

I am over 35 and my husband had low morphology. We opted for it and have zero regrets.

I believe the current indications for pgs testing is known chromosome defects in the family, or advanced maternal age (35+). There are risks to the embryo otherwise, and no guarantees that your embryo will be defect free even after. Everything I’ve read suggests no improvement to life birth statistics, which is really what you want.

I wanted to get PGS but hubby didn’t want it. We decided not to get it. We had to pay of pocket for IVF so PGS would’ve been an additional $5k. 
I’m now 21w+4d with a healthy baby boy.

We have morphology issues which can mean genetic issues. assuming AF rears her ugly head this weekend we will be starting IVF meds the end of this month with plan to retrieve and hopefully transfer in June. If we have any left over embies we're going to free and likely do PGS assuming we don't get pregnant. it's kind of lime the best of both worlds. if we get pregnant we won't do PGS. if we don't it's worth the expense.

I wasted a year transferring embryos that were not pgs tested.  Trust me, you don’t want to go through the heart break of having a miscarriage either.  Yes, pgs testing is expensive but it saves time.  If you can do pgs testing and ERA biopsy, it would be great

I didn't do PGS 2.5 years ago and transferred 2 fresh embryos. I have a beautiful soon to be 2 year old daughter from that transfer. Last week we did an FET with her "sibling" embryo. 🤞

we had morphology of 3% I know some doctors say this is bad and some class it as borderline normal so we decided to just do a fresh transfer first time and if no success then have the testing done on any left over embies. Was gutted at the time that we only ended up with the 1 strong embie so none to freeze but to my surprise 10 days later i found out that 1 strong embie was all it took. I am 8 an half weeks now and saw the little heartbeat on the ultrasound last week ❤. whatever you decide I wish you luck!

We were trying to figure out if it was worth it or not as well. We have unexplained infertility, we both passed our tests with flying colors, did 3 iuis with very high sperm counts and a couple mature follicles. We had our consultation for ivf a week ago. After my husband and I talking about it non atop we decided that doing the genetic testing is the smart thing to do, maybe it’ll give us the answers as to why we aren’t getting pregnant. I had a miscarriage last year and I just keep thinking what if we do all this, put in a embryo and miscarry again?! I’m not saying it can’t happen with a tested embryo but the success rate is much higher when you do pgs. It’s a huge decision that only you can make. Good luck!!

I wish we had the option of PGS. I'm an expat and where I live it is illegal. This ICSI process is stressful and I feel like I'm not doing everything possible because of a ridiculous law! PGS is allowed in my home country - Australia - so this just adds insult to injury.
