Is it possible to have a high protein diet while being vegetarian/vegan?

So

I've wanted to be vegan or at least vegetarian for a long time now but I have no support from family and friends. They're extremely discouraging about it...

Anyways, I've started working out again and I want to gain a good amount of muscle but Idk how possible that is with a vegetarian/vegan diet. I've heard people tend to lose weight but that's kind of the opposite of what I'm trying to do.

So is it possible? And how much would I have to eat if it is? I'm a small person and I physically can't eat a lot lol. I'm usually only able to eat one regular sized meal a day and then have basically snack sized "meals" aside from that.
