Religious fasting and breastfeeding
So I’m Muslim and Ramadan is coming up (the month in our religion where we fast, no food or water, from sunrise to sunset—in my region I’d fast for about 16 hours every day this month). However this year I have a one month old and I exclusively breastfeed. My baby also has some weight gain issue if that’s a factor.
I plan on continuing only breastfeeding but wanted to know if I can still fast (is it allowed?) or will it decrease my supply? I don’t want to give only bottles and have her stop nursing.
This question is aimed for Muslims (for the rulings) but anyone of any belief who knows about fasting and breastfeeding are more than welcome to answer! Thanks!
