Am I the only one that thinks Mother’s Day is overrated?

Women complain every year for not feeling appreciated on this day since they didn’t get a gift. I just don’t see the big deal. Your kids show you appreciation every day. Getting mad because your SO didn’t buy a gift is childish. It’s Mother’s Day and you aren’t his mom

lol. my kid does not show me appreciation every day. most the stuff I do gets overlooked because everyone is just used to me doing it. It's nice to have a day where we actually get thanked for everything we do. it should be every day, but it's not.

If a woman is a mother to his child (whether step or biological) she plays the role of a nurturer and a homemaker for the Home in which he resides... therefore she deserves recognition. You are right, she is NOT his Mother but still takes care of him even though she is not obligated... She deserves recognition.

All holidays are overrated. I actually wish like hell people would stop buying me shit. I tell my SO every Christmas “this holiday is pointless. You buy me something I want, I buy you something you want? Why not just buy it ourselves? We have all year to treat ourselves anyways” then what does his crazy ass do.. go out and buy me a gift 😒 then I feel obligated to go get him one

It’s pretty much just another day for me, the homemade gifts and pictures that my children color me mean more to me than any gift they could buy me. I am happy with just sitting home being lazy with my kids and husband.

This sounds very bitter, It’s a nice Day.  don’t like it just tell your family not to celebrate easy. If you want to think that way don’t celebrate birthdays or wedding anniversary’s etc either. That’s such silly logic, Yes no one told us to have a child but we ARE hard working mothers and it’s nice to be appreciated. Trust me when I say it’s easy to forget to say Thank you!

I agree with CeCelia’s comment, but also your last sentence is really annoying. So you’re saying just because I didn’t birth my fiancée that means he shouldn’t tell me happy Mother’s Day? I never expect gifts, they’re just a sweet bonus, mothers day isn’t about gifts, it’s about appreciation,  but I gave birth to his child, so just because im not his mother doesn’t mean shit. I created life with him, I am a hardworking mother and therefore I get to celebrate the day.

I think it's nice to have mother's day!!! we work hard to take care of our kids. my husband gives me the day off and I get cute little gifts from my kids. yes! we should be appreciated all year round. but sometimes we don't.
