24 hr urine test for preeclampsia
I’m so irritated right now. During my last pregnancy, our baby had Bladder Outlet Obstruction. I went into premature labor at 28 weeks and she passed away during labor, so I had a stillborn. As you can guess, going to the doctor during this pregnancy stresses me out. My BP, since 10 weeks, has been 140/80 WHILE at the doctors office. Today, because I was having a glucose test (and worried about passing) and stressed out anyway because I was at the doctor, it was 158/80. Yes, I know that’s high.
The doctor freaked out and had the nurse check it twice before I left, and had me do labs. It was 120/60 and 130/60 when she checked it. I check it home, and it will be 106 over something. I told them this. There was no protein in my urine, my glucose reading was only 115, hemoglobin levels looked great, haven’t been swelling, etc. They still sent a jug home with me to do a 24 hour urine test. So what’s the big deal? I live an hour (one way) from my doctor and they want it back Wednesday morning, which means driving an hour one way again and being late to work.
I’m thinking about just monitoring it at home and skipping the urine test. Anyone else done this before?
