What would you do?

So I really REALLY need to go back to school and become a RN. I have two kids under two and my husband works, it doesn’t pay that well but it’s enough to survive. I go back to work in August (full time) and my salary is not enough to survive on lol it helps a littleeeeee bit.
Nursing school is full time but only 2 years and once I become a RN we wouldn’t have to worry about money, which is the dream. (Also, I’ve always wanted to be a nurse)
So do I become a stay at home mom and full time student with a pay cut
Or just keep working and go to school another time
Or pick a different career and do online school
Or something else 🤷‍♀️

Most hospitals have tuition reimbursement! Get your CNA (in Idaho they make anywhere from $13-16 per hour which is more than double our minimum wage). Then the hospital will reimburse you to go on and get your RN! You usually work 3 12 hour shifts as a CNA which would give you a ton of time freedom. From there you can decide if you want to pursue nursing or not! I love it, theres so many options when it comes to areas you can work. Currently in cardiac, transitioning to pediatrics/neonatal. I say go for it 😊 I had a lot of mothers/ single mothers in my nursing program and they are so thankful they did it!!

If you can pay for the school yes, but I wouldn’t want to go into debt on one income with 2 small kids

I would say do LPN which is half the time it would take to become an RN,while in school use your loans wisely to help with household bills. Once you become and LPN you’ll make decent money and you can set some to the side until your family is more stable then go on and bridge to the RN.

I’m wondering about this too, I’m considering waiting until both my kids start school to go back, that way I don’t have to pay for day care as I’m currently a SAHM.

If it’s because of bill money girl you good. Go for it... if you have someone to watch over your kids while you at work and school that’s all you need

My friend is a single mom with four kids she was once a nursing assistant , living in one bedroom apartment with her kids, not a luxury live , food stamps, she worked her way up and now she’s a RN . She barely have a full 3 hours sleep for 3 years while she was in school. You can still go to school while you are working , it just requires a lot of sacrifices, not sleeping, motivation.

Go back to school and get a good job waitressing or bar tending. That’s how I go through school. You work a few hours on the weekend and go to school during the week. It’s a win-win!
