Baby bassinets?? Opinions

Question

Just want to know other mums opinions on bassinets etc. i want to have my baby in my room with me for the first 3-6 months I just like that idea, easier to breast feed without disturbing as much and as a first time mum I just want my baby close to me! 
I’m looking into getting a bassinet type of thing but they all seem so expensive for something baby can only use until 3-6 months. 
What is everyone’s opinions? Have bassinets been worth it for you or did you have baby in it’s own room. Would love to hear everyone’s opinions!

Others are suggesting Rock and Plays, but they are not safe for unsupervised sleep. Newborns and infants should sleep flat on their backs on a firm surface. There are a number of reasons not to use a Rock and Play for nighttime sleep. These types of seats been linked to SIDS. 
I used and will use again Arm’s Reach Co-Sleeper. I got mine off Amazon. It goes right on the side of your bed and your baby is literally in arm’s reach. It’s easy to scoop your baby up without leaving your bed for nursing or even popping a pacifier in their mouths in the middle of the night. I loved mine and used it until my daughter was almost 8 months old.

Don’t get a bassinet! My LO hated his. He sleeps in a fisher price rock n play next to my side of the bed. It was like half the cost. Only benefit is my bassinet flips over and is a changing table on the other side. I say get a rock n play or even a pack n play which you’ll get more use out of.

My mom found a bassinet for us at a yard sale which I know goes against a lot of recommendations but it's very sturdy and we were able to wash all the fabrics. I love having our son next to me but not in our bed. It makes night feedings quicker and easier. Since he's not in bed with us I don't have to worry about us squishing or smothering him but he's close enough to check on. Plus I think it helps keep things a little more intimate between me and my SO, especially during a time when it's hard to be romantic and that tiny 3rd person enters your relationship dynamic. If you're concerned about finances try finding a secondhand bassinet or co-sleeper or use the pack-n-play as a temporary bassinetcrib in your room since it can also be used later.
