Advice please? Cramps/birth control

I’ve had my period for over 3 years and since last year my cramps have been unbearable. I never really throw up and there’s been times where I come extremely close to throwing up, times where my cramps are so bad I feel like I can’t move, even dropping to the floor in school into an almost fetal position. Most of my friends suggest birth control because then my cramps will be gone and so will my period. I’ve brought it up to my mom and she just kinda disregards it :/ she thinks I only want it to have sex but that’s completely wrong I have a dr apt on Monday should I bring it up to her again maybe try to convince her
