37 weeks and 4cm dialted and 80% effaced!!

so last night I went into emergency room because I was having contractions. nurse checked me and I was 4 cm dialted and 80% effaced I waited a few hrs to see if there was change and the told me that since there was no change they couldn't admit me but I was totally up to me if I wanted to stay or go home ! has any other mom had this issue of being 4 cm dialated and how do I just make contractions start I'm worried about dialting more and not even knowing because previous pregnancies I go from a 7 to a 10 super quick !
