How to clean and shrink pores?

My boyfriend has really big dirty pores and it causes him to have frequent break outs... besides regularly washing his face how can I help him clean and shrink his pores... he likes those nose strips that once you peel off you can see how all the gunk you got out so I was wondering if there is a full face mask I could try for him or just anything else... also he had combination skin Incase that makes a difference
