Are there any parenting books that you feel you couldn’t have lived without for that first year?

I avoided parenting books like the plague 😂 don't regret it one bit. I feel like books just make parents even more stressed out.

Moms on call books are 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 
They got our daughter sleeping through the night at 5 weeks. It’s written by two pedi nurses who go over the basics of baby care & health things. Super helpful for the our baby’s ambiguous runny nose that seemed to have no cause and no end. They also provide guides for schedules if that’s something you want to do with your little one.

Benjamin Spock. I recommend buying the last edition that he wrote himself. recent ones tgat others have 'edited' are rubbish!

I read Baby Wise and Bringing Up Bebe.  We followed the directions in Baby Wise to set a schedule for our baby - maybe we just have an easy baby, but he’s been on a reliable schedule since 2 weeks and he’s slept through the night since 10 weeks. He’s 5 months now, so most of the parenting tips from Bringing Up Bebe aren’t applicable yet, but I liked the general concepts in that book. Also got the Mayo Clinic and a baby week by week book as general reference books for all things baby for the first year, but we haven’t had time or the need to keep up with those books.

No book can ever teach you how to be a parent. You live and you learn. Everyone has different situations, support systems etc. wouldn't waste my money
