When do you take new born out?

I’ve one more week till my due date and it’s got me to thinking...how long do you wait before taking a new born out in public? How long till you start visiting family and friends? Just curious on what y’all have done or plan to do.

I did as soon as we had something to do. we didn't let having a baby slow us down and baby was only sick once in her first year around 9m.

I am glad to see this was wondering the same thing because we had our 'friend'bail on hosting the baby shower and now I have no time or resources to do it and was thinking of just hosting a meet the baby party for friends and family.

I'm on baby #4. I visit people on the way home from the hospital if it's still daytime. Otherwise, the next day.

Your baby has more chance of getting ill at the hospital than out and about, from whenever you’re comfortable is fine :)

It depends on you and what works. I let family and friends come visit whenever they want as long as they’re not sick. We took ours to sams when she was one week, but mostly kept her covered in the carrier.

We went to Denver with my newborn not even a week after she was born! Not my choice but still she did just fine! And she goes grocery shopping with me all the time

I’ll probably take mine out as soon as I feel physically ready to get up and go. I only plan to go to my “regular” spots like the tea room or this little Italian restaurant my husband and I like. Her car seat has a cover and attaches to her stroller and if she isn’t in her car seat I’ll likely be wearing her so I’m not too concerned with anyone messing with her. 
But I also don’t have a problem saying no, you can’t see/touch my baby. I’m also not worried about her crying but maybe I’ll change my mind about that once she’s out and I see her temperament. 😂

I took my son out for the first time when he was a week old because it was my grandfather’s birthday.

We waited 3 months except doctors appointments.

My little one was born in early March at the height of flu season earlier this year, that combined with the abnormally cold weather we were experiencing we didn’t take him on social outings till he was 3 weeks.  My first son was born in the summer and we took him out and about within days, I’m talking about subway rides to Central Park and dinners with friends and he wasn’t ever a “sickly” kid.  As a matter of fact my older son didn’t get sick until we put him in daycare at like 3ish.  I would weigh the factors and use your best judgement, you can also take a wrap with you so that you can hold him (or her) close and control who can touch or give snuggles cause some people are nasty.
