3 movements over span of 4 hours?

Can this be right? I have always heard the 10 in an hour rule but today my doctor's nurse told me 3 movements in 3-4 hour span. That just sounds incredibly wrong to me?? anyone else?

Babies sleep a lot. 10 movements an hour would be every 6 minutes on average... when would they sleep? I’d say 3 different movements in 3-4 hrs makes a lot more sense. If your baby is moving 10 times an hour that’s okay too, every baby is different. But the baby moving at least 3x in a 3-4 hour time span sounds like a good general rule.

Counts don’t mean much - instead what is NORMAL for your baby? Any change in movements should be watched and if you’re concerned get checked. My baby is super quiet except for at night - so if I went by kick counts she’d be in dire straights during the day and overactive at night lol

I just keep track of if she’s moving or not. She’s super active! So I know her normal and I know it is going to slow down since she’s going to run out of room more and more. I laugh when they tell me to count movements. Lol. I don’t need to personally.

I wonder if it’s full on movements that stop and start back up. The 10 in an hour or 2 seems to be kicks which can left happen in a 2 minute span

My baby is incredibly active a few hours a day - like 10 movements in 2 minutes active - but then he’ll just snooze for hours while I’m at work and moving around a lot. So I can see that making sense depending on the time of day and baby’s patterns.
