What’s going on here?

A friend of mine plans on moving out of state due to some health problems that he recently faced but he’s been talking about moving since we first met almost 2 years ago. We were talking one day (kind of arguing over something) and he starts yelling at me saying that he didn’t want to stay here. I never told him that I wanted him to stay especially after knowing his reasoning for leaving. He said again to me that there was nothing here for him and that he wasn’t staying to which I told him that I didn’t care if he stayed or not. He always gets really mad when he’s saying that but I never told him that I didn’t want him to leave but it seems like someone did possibly his gf 🤔. What do I do about this?
