How do you respond to passive aggressive rudeness?

How do respond to passive aggressive and rude comments from in laws? I don’t ever resort to being passive aggressive because I think it’s being fake. I refuse to be fake. I’d rather deal with someone obviously rude than someone who is rude but pretends to be nice.

If they make a passive agressive comment then turn it around on them and pull it out into the light.... such as if they make a passive agressive comment about your shirt say "So do you mean that you dont like the color of this shirt?" Just try to restate what they said in an obvious manner and make them see that what they are saying is stupid.... that's about all I can say honestly

I hate being fake too which is why I call people it on their rude comments. Like “what do you mean by that?” or “what’s that supposed to mean?” or “would like to talk more about it?”! Make them uncomfortable and call them out in their bs!  I’m abrasive with it! I don’t do it rudely I just make it clear that I’m not going to play those games.

I actually find it more entertaining to play completely oblivious to what the person is doing lol that way they get no reaction from you

I say something like “ummm RUDE!” Or “that wasn’t very nice!” Or else I ignore it and whine about it to my college bffs on the phone later lolz
