Thoughts on Self-Serve Checkout?

So there’s been a bit of controversy surrounding self-serve checkouts taking jobs away from people who could be working as cashiers. Example, the Walmart in my town has 16 self sever checkout counters and only opens 3 or 4 checkout lanes. Personally, I prefer self-serve because I struggle with anxiety and if I’m at the store by myself, I can’t walk up to someone to check out. I prefer to do it myself and leave. But I can’t understand the job argument, but not enough for me to side against self-serve. People in my town have boycotted the self serve counters so they’re typically empty and the lines for the other lanes are huge, so there’s also a time thing where I can get myself through much faster than waiting in line. What are your thoughts on them?
