How much should the father do ?

If a mother is a stay at home mom how much does the father need to contribute besides just financially ? & is it wrong to expect that help ?

My husband working full-time outside the home does not excuse him from being a husband and a parent. Period. I don't care how tired he is at the end of the day. I'm self-employed full-time while also caring for our 12 month old all day. I'm tired too. We're both equally exhausted when we go to bed at night. But he still comes home and cooks dinner, does the dishes, starts the laundry, cleans the house, cares for our daughter, etc. etc. etc. It's not my "job" to do everything and take care of everyone. Its OUR home and OUR daughter. We're 100% equal in our home.

I don’t think that he should have to do any massive cooking or cleaning on a regular basis, but he should definitely step in when you need some help, give attention to the kids and help clean up here and there

Im home with our 2 year old son. When my husband gets home he plays/ hangs out with our son, usually helps cook dinner, helps with bedtime routine when needed. I pretty much do all the cleaning and other housework, I dont expect him to do it since he works.

Once working hours are over he should help out with the kids (he needs to bond with them too) and help out with bits of housework. Please don’t fall into the trap of working all day every day as many women do. You will end up like this long after he’s retired and it’s rubbish. A marriage is an equal partnership and it’s not like you’re not busy doing stuff for the family as well while he’s at work so you should share the load when he’s not at work. It makes for a more equal marriage and he’s more likely to respect how much stuff there is to be done at home and appreciate you x

Both should give 100% to the kids’ care that they can, a joyful giving heart toward the children will reward you with a happy home. A resentful or begrudgingly caring parent makes the kids feel like they’re a problem. I do all the housework (besides him cleaning up after himself) because I stay at home but my husband doesn’t count the kid’s care as work.

My husband is a stay at home dad and I work full time.
My take on it is this: the stay at home parent should work during the day taking care of the kid(s) and doing some chores around the house. Once I get home from work we’re both on duty as parents until the kid(s) are asleep. Usually, I’ll take care of the toddler while he cooks dinner and I do the bedtime routine.
On the weekends, both parents are on duty as parents. All of the weekend care doesn’t just automatically fall to the stay at home parent...both need a break. So, weekend duties should be split (childcare and some house chores). Both parents should get some alone time on the weekends too.
