Ethical Vacationing?

Question

Do you make sure your vacation is ethical?
What I mean by this is:
- do you make sure it doesn’t harm the environment? (Leave trash on beaches, cause wildlife to be harmed)
- do you make sure that animals aren’t harmed? (Swimming with dolphins that aren’t cared for properly, riding elephants that are mistreated) 
- do you make sure the natives aren’t harmed by your contributing to the tourism in that country/area? (For instance in Cuba the tourism business is causing a food shortage for the Cuban people).
Bonus Question: 
Do you think it’s our responsibility to vacation ethically/responsibly and make sure we aren’t supporting bad business, or is it the responsibility of the country/area to make sure that these things aren’t happening?

I ethical vacation, even when not on vacation and just camping.  I do not litter. I always find the "leave no trace" or "leave only footprints" My go to. People need to respect the land they are on, and the culture and ecosystems that are with it.

This my first time posting here! 
I'm a beach goer, and would live on the beach if I could. When ever i vacation, I make sure myself and my friends clean up after ourselves.
When I go snorkeling, I do it to observe. I never touch the reef! They need to be protected!!!!

I live my life like this. If I go anywhere, I clean up after myself. I do not pick up other people's garbage. I don't know what they've done with it, if they're sick, sometimes don't even know what it is. I have volunteered to do that before. But I had one of those extender picker-upper things and gloves. 
When I go to a restaurant, I pick up my daughters food off the ground. That's how I am 😂
Once, my brother threw his drink bottle out my damn window on the freeway. I pulled off and made him walk the half mile or so back to pick it up. At the time, he was pissed. Now he tells me that he's glad I made him do that. He was too young and naive to understand (17 lol). Now he's just 19, but he's the same way. He always cleans up after himself. Properly throws away / recycles.

personally,  I thought that was common sense and education. 
I mean, I was raised to respect others property. To throw away trash and clean up after myself as if I was never there.( bonus- I also clean my table at a restaurant,  dump remains in the smallest plate, stack plates big to small, put all silverware on top and napkins in a ball at the top. wipe the table and present my card.)
I use reusable cups for coffee when I go out and use straws more than once(cleaned of course).
I dont condone animal cruelty and dont support many companies because of that. I buy from consignment stores often, rather than brand new- as far as baby clothes for my daughter,  yoga pants for myself etc.
one of my cars is eco friendly. 
and list goes on.
but I didnt think this mentality is labeled as ethical. I simply thought that's common sense. to clean up after yourself,  protect animal rights etc. I know some people love hurting animals , but those are just shitty people in my opinion.
I was under the impression that most people have the common sense to clean after themselves and such.

We camp and hike and are big on what you bring in you bring out.  We only have a campfire when it is safe. My mom even went as far as to tell my dad to put a cement base in our pit so the risk of underground spreading (she is a cautious person).

I do this on a daily basis, not just while vacationing. I never leave trash behind, heck I'll even pick it up when I see it, especially at the beach. I'm not for animals in captivity for human entertainment. I'd never swim with dolphins in tanks or ride elephants. I've swam with sharks in the ocean (wild and not captive at all) and I would visit and volunteer at an elephant sanctuary if I had the chance. and usually where I vacation, locals make their living off tourists. In Mexico little kids sell candy and chiclets on the street and I usually will buy their whole box and make their day. I try to be as consciousness as possible in my daily life and while I vacation.
