Should I insist my MIL get the whooping cough shot?

I would rather not step on toes but as soon as I lie down all these crazy thoughts enter my head. "Should I do this, should I do that" "is that really OK to ask?!"

I insisted that anyone who wants to spend a lot of time with my baby boy should have this vaccine. I just got mine today at 28 weeks! Perhaps some might think it's rude. But, better safe then sorry.

I don’t think its ever okay to ask someone to get a shot. If they wanted it, they’d get it. You can choose who you have around your baby but I think it’s rude.

Ridiculous to insist someone has something Injected into their body without their consent. Not to mention, it’s a very controversial vaccine with not a lot of research behind it. The label of the vaccine itself says “not tested on pregnant women, results are unknown, pregnant women should not take.” 
For the record, I am not an anti vaccine person. But this one I have issues with.

I asked my husband to do it since I was uncomfortable. Maybe you should do the same?

If a person is going to come visit every once in a while I wouldn’t worry so much. If she is with the baby all the time I would ask. I get that some people think it is rude to ask but if it were my baby, I would tell them they need to get it or just keep a distance. They don’t have to get it, but then they don’t get to come and hold the baby all the time.

I think it's okay to ask, and present the reasons why. My husband and I got the tdap shots today, it's good for 10 years and my husband already was hoping to get a tetanus shot because he knew his was getting overdue. My OB presented it well too because she said it's good for 10 years so just 1 shot for grandparents/in laws should cover them for all grandkids possibly, not to mention she said it's only like $15-20 at CVS and so forth. My husband asked his mom and grandma to get it and they both got it, although they aren't hard to get along with. I still need to talk to my own parents about it but I still think it'll be easier to encourage the tdap shot over like a flu shot because my parents have both likely received the tdap at some point and it's likely overdue at this point too.

I think it’s ok to ask, but with immediate family I would never forbid if they don’t comply. It’s something they should want to do, but nothing they have to do. I don’t think it’s rude to ask.

My in laws are moving with me so I can’t really deny them the baby because they WILL be around her. They need to get any shots that’s recommend if they are going to be sharing the same roof as my baby. I also told my mom and she’s completely ok with it. I don’t think it’s a big deal to ask if you know that person is definitely going to be around a lot. In my case, I won’t take any chances with my baby.

Let her know that baby won’t be able to get it’s own vaccine for a couple months and then ask nicely, “Would you mind getting vaccinated just to be safe? I want you to get to spend time with him/her”

does she plan on being around the baby a lot before s/he's vaccinated? I'm asking my mother in law to get it because my doctor recommends it for anyone that will be around the baby at the beginning, and she was wanting to stay with us the first week after birth to help out
