Can I give my baby my sperm donor last name?

So me and donor are great friends we talk everyday. He wants to be up to date on my pregnancy and picture of the baby when he/she gets here. The question I have is can I give the baby his last name or at least my moms? I absolutely do not want my child having my last name only because it’s my fathers last name

If you have enough time you can always change your last name to your mothers and then give the baby that last name!

that seems like crossing a line and may very well be illegal unless he consents to it and accepts responsibility of the child as a father but my guess is if hes a donor that's probably not the situation

What!!!! The donor is just that ‘a donor’. This sounds like you are trying to make him responsible for your child in a sneaky way. 
I’m also pregnant with a donor baby and I would never give him any name other than MINE. This may also be my fathers name but it is mine too. My child belongs with me and needs to feel that when he sees his name. A random last name would not be in my child best interest as he is also going to feel different about having a donor rather than a father.

Well spoke to my donor and he was actually hoping I’d give the baby his last name. So it works out

You should definitely ask the donor first. I would feel like that would make him too much of a father figure, but if that’s what you want then talk to him

You by law have the right to give your child ANY name you so desire! It could be the most outrageous name known to man and it would be allowed as long as you are the mother and you put it on the birth certificate.

I believe in order to have a last name other than yours from birth the father would have to accept parental rights for the child. So your speed donor would have to be listed on the birth certificate as the father and accept parental rights which could require him to provide support for the child

Give your baby your mums name and then get your name changed to your mums .. simple you can’t just take the sperm doners name

I think you will have to list the donor on the birth certificate and he will have to sign it for you to give the baby his name. Why do you not want your baby to  have your last name? If you want your mother's last name for your baby I'm pretty sure you will need to legally change your last name to the name you want your baby to have before you even give birth.
