The day I met my daughter

Whitney Sierra

I went to my last doctor appointment the day after my due date, May 31st. My doctor wanted to do a NST because the baby wasn’t moving as much as she should. After the NST and an ultrasound she decided to induce me that night at 9 pm. I had too much amniotic fluid and slow movement. Once o was admitted that night, my blood pressure was up so they had to do blood work before they could induce me to rule out preeclampsia. Finally, at 2 am they gave me medicine to help me dilate. By 4 am I still wasn’t progressing, but my water broke. They started pitocin and epidural about 6 am. Contractions started heavy and a minute apart, but the baby’s heart rate was dipping with each contraction. They stopped pitocin and monitored her heart rate, but it kept dropping. Around 12 pm they decided to do a c section. My daughter, Olivia Mae Franklin was born at 12:50 pm on June 1, 2018. She weighed 7.4 pounds and was 20 inches long. She and I are healthy and doing great! I can’t believe our little one is finally here!
