Twins?!

Okay so my Fiancé and I are having our first child and I have 4 sets of twins on my side of the family alone. I know the males side doesn’t matter(twins on his side too) but is there one here that has had twins know what my chances could be or should we wait till our ultrasound? Mind you were in our early 20’s.

High likelihood if it’s maternal side twins. Even higher if it is your parent or grandparent whose the twin as it sometimes skips generations.

It depends on whether the twins are on the maternal side (paternal side bears no relevance) and also depends on whether the twins are fraternal or identical.
Identical twins literally can happen to anyone, there is no familial significance. Fraternal twins however are passed down the line as it were.
If you're carrying twins then they should pick it up on your first ultrasound - mine were first seen at 7w2d (first scan)

I’m currently pregnant with twins at 20 with no twins on either side of the family. From speaking to my doctors and doing research, if there are fraternal twins on the mothers side, you only have about a 3% chance of having twins. If there are identical twins on your side, you can void those out as those have no genetic link. There’s been a lot of studies that show it doesn’t “skip a generation” or anything like that, but if there are fraternal twins, on the moms side, your chances of having them are about 3%.

It really depends on the history, if it's your mothers side and such. For my family, I was a twin, my grandma was a twin and then my great great grandma was a twin.. for us, it seems to skip a generation, this goes back for my family for 20 generations. so if twins run on your mothers side, then your chances are higher for sure but you wont know untim an ultrasound.
