The first period after a miscarriage

please help! I miscarried a month ago and about bled to death, I ended up having to have an emergency d&c; and two units of blood. My period has returned, but it is so heavy. I normally bleed for 5 days and I've been bleeding for a week without it tapering off at all. has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to slow the bleeding? I've been lucky and haven't had cramps, but sometimes I feel like the blood is as thick as concrete when it's coming out. Please share with me any efforts you took to slow flow or help with this in anyway. I feel like my life has been put on hold, I feel like I bleed so much that using tampons and pads together is pointless. I wore my period cup for the first time since before I was pregnant yesterday and I filled it within 2.5 hours...it holds 20ml. It's hard to do anything. Again, please help!😢😭
