Is anyone else waiting until after 20 week scan to announce?

I’m currently 18 weeks and wanted to wait until after 20 week scan to announce my pregnancy. I want the checks done first. Trouble is it’s getting obvious! I spent yesterday afternoon at a bbq in hot hot sun in a big cardigan. Did anyone else wait until 20 weeks, or are you planning to? Am I kidding myself that people haven’t noticed?

I’m not announcing at all on social media, i just mean to people I know. Hard to not feel self conscious when you’re getting a bump though and you’re wondering if everyone is guessing/ commenting...

I've told close friends and family but I'm not doing a social media announcement until after my baby shower, which I'll be around 25weeks for ☺️

We’ve told immediate family and a couple of close friends but we’re not telling anyone else until after the 20 week scan. Just praying everything will be OK and we can then tell people ❤️

Having made this post and thought about it, I have realised why I am reluctant to share.  Partly I’m worried something awful will be found at the scan and I’m counting my chickens.  Mainly, I’m embarrassed. I am 42 and this is my 5th baby and it’s a new partner. I feel like « that woman who had 5 kids to three different fathers ». Sadly nowadays relationships often don’t work out and mine broke down because one was very career minded and stressed and became alcohol dependent and one walked out. My children are lovely, well mannered, clever a polite and I simply love being a mum but in truth I’m embarrassed because I know how « judging » and spiteful people can be. I wish i could live in a bubble with nice people and not need to tell acquaintances etc....

Yes! I lost my son at 20 weeks so I’d like to wait until I’ve made it past this landmark to announce. Do what you feel is right.

me and my husband was way way to excited to wait 20 weeks we told everyone are 8th week.

With my first we shared with family at 12 weeks but didn’t share more broadly until after the NT ultrasound at 16 weeks. 
This time I was so sick I had to tell people sooner because there was no way to hide how ill this pregnancy was making me. 
Just do whatever you are most comfortable with. There’s no right or wrong. Just what’s right for you mama!

I am waiting to make it “social media official” until after my 20 week anatomy scan. We told family and close friends after the NT scan at 13 weeks, and I’ve told a few patients of mine that will be very confused when they come in for their dental check ups in 6 months and I’m not there but everyone else will find or at 20 weeks!
