Induce or No?

Question

Doc found me in tears from hemorrhoid pain today. His opinion is to induce on Thurs once I am 39 weeks. I am anti-inducing, unless baby is in distress, & I feel selfish inducing due to me being in pain. Doc says my roids are not typical but much bigger/worse, & there is no shame in inducing at 39 weeks. I am so torn. I want things to happen naturally, but if baby is safe to come now it sounds nice to get these horrible things on their way to healing. What do I do? I know only mommy & daddy can make the decision & everyone else has different opinions, too, but I want feedback. Thanks. #teardropseverywhere

Me personally I don’t care if I get induced or go naturally into labor 🤷🏼‍♀️ my whole outlook on labor and delivery is that more times than not it never goes how someone wanted it to, so why pressure yourself for it to go one specific way? However if I was in your position and having that kind of pain/discomfort and doc suggested it may be best to be induced, I personally would take the induction! There’s NO shame in being induced, and if anyone wants to say differently I’ll fight them for you 😂 people wanna mom/parent shame over tedious little things and I have no problem giving them an attitude and tell them off. You do what you think is best for YOU and baby and your health. Not what’s best for Suzy down the street, not what’s best for your sister stated away, not what your mil wants. The only person who matters is you and baby

personally if I was you I'd be induced, babies feel your stress/discomfort, if your crying because your in pain baby will also be feeling distress even if it's only a minor amount. I also wanted a natural labour with my first son, it half happend my waters broke but unfortunately he had popped inside me so I had no option but to be induced. what I'm trying to say is labour is a crazy whirlwind don't put too much pressure on you self what ever happens your going to get your beautiful bundle at the end of it all. and there's no prizes when it comes to labour in my eyes just do what you have to do to get baby here safe and sound xxx

A 39 week induction was offered to me because of baby being large, I did not want to be induced but saw some of there reasoning so chose to book one at 40 weeks exactly. Give her that extra week to come on her own. At 38 +4 now and kicking my self for not taking the 39 week offering because of how much pain I am in. Been in a reasonable amount this whole pregnancy because of a bad back, but as she gets bigger I get more front heavy it hurts more. I can at least lay down tho, it dose mean I can do nothing for the next week and a half but it dose help the back pain. From what I remember laying down did not help me with the pain of hemorrides  when I had them so if I was you I would really think about it.

It's a tough decision to make and I'm facing a similar one. I just wanted you to know that some of the most recent research suggests that in a well dated pregnancy (ie early first trimester ultrasound - I've read the error rate on due date with this method is about 3 days give or take) elective induction at 39 weeks is perfectly safe for mums and bubs and may even have better outcomes than expectant management (ie waiting for labour to start on its own). Make the best decision for you and your baby, whatever that may be :-) goodluck!!!

do what you feel is right for you. personally, my hemorrhoids never went away-I still have them in all their mutant sized painful glory. so induction doesn't guarantee you'll get relief.

I can only speak to my personal experience, and I know everyone’s inductions are different. My water broke with my first and I was given pitocin, which gave me back to back contractions. I ended up getting an epidural. When I was 10 cm, they had me start pushing, and I pushed for 2.5 hours. Because of this, I ended up with horrendous hemorrhoids. I say this simply to say, it may get a little worse before it gets better. I’m sorry. I hope you get some relief soon.

I love playing devils advocate, so I’m going to argue both sides. I’ve been having the same argument in my own head (been in unproductive labor for over two weeks so doc is offering to induce next week).
If you’re in that much pain, your baby can feel your stress, which isn’t good for baby. You also aren’t sleeping, which means you’ll be exhausted for labor, which means your body can delay labor, or stall it, resulting in inducing you anyway, or needing to use the vacuum or forceps, or worst case a csection. 
However, due dates are just guesses, unless of course you had medical intervention. Who’s to say the doctor isn’t a couple weeks off, and baby still has some vital growing to do. 
I try to keep telling myself that if the doctor offered, there is a medical reason. My doctor isn’t the type to do convenience anything. If baby/mom aren’t ready, he wouldn’t offer. I’m heavily leaning toward doing it.

I say do what you feel is right if it was me I would definitely induce because I’m not good with pain and I have so much anxiety to meet my baby.
