Pre labor or false labor?

So I'm 36 weeks and 3 days I had my bloody show last Friday but had zero contracting, called the midwife they said not to come in unless I start having strong contractions that are 5 minutes apart.

Then yesterday on Monday I started having what felt like period pains my midwife said that they were prelabor contractions and that it can take hours for them to progress, so i went to bed and when I woke up they were gone! They came back today at around 12 PM they still feel like period cramps, they're consistently 9-10 minutes apart but aren't getting any stronger. Is it false labor or is it prelabor? What's the difference?!
