What’s something your parents lied to you about?

Why is something your parents lied to you about growing up and we’re so disappointed to learn the truth when you grew up. Example: my parents always told me doctors know what there doing, when in actuality they don’t always know and just ends up doing elimination and seeing if they work. I was so crushed about it cause I thought they knew everything.

My mum told me that dinosaurs never existed. I felt so dumb in class repeating those words when I was a child. To this day, she still doesn’t believe that they were on earth.

Mall food was full of rats ( so I never asked for any food while she was shopping)

Mostly to do with food. E.g. Eat the crusts of your bread, it's good for xyz. Turns out alot of it was made up, some of it was facts though. Grew up to not really be fussy with foods lol

Beyond that, my mom used to tell me when I was little that I had to go to bed so they could party without me. That there’s be candy and games and like circus stuff. My uncles worked for a circus when I was little. Well one night I woke up and they had decorated the house and I could see some of the yard. And I got so mad. When I woke up again the next morning (my birthday) I yelled at everyone about being mean to me and not cleaning up the party like normal and locked myself in the bathroom. My mom calmed me down thank god and I was able to enjoy the rest of my birthday party
