Do you think that cat's mind being indoors all the time?

Our cat often looks bored being inside a small apartment everyday. We live on the top story of a high-rise apt building though, so we keep a close eye on the door to our balcony. She actually doesn't seem that interested in escaping out the door though. We try to give her as many toys as possible. And play with her. Our apt is so small, I really don't think that we could have another cat for her to play with.

We occasionally try to take our cats outside (on leashes...we live on a busy street in an apartment with no yard), and one of them immediately tries to go inside, and the other just peed on himself and cried to go back in. They very much love being indoor cats.

My cat never seems bored. She loves laying in windowsills and watching birds though. But, she's always running around the house full tilt and playing with something. She's very active. I do take her outside on a leash when I can and she loves that too. She used to be an outdoor feral cat until I brought her back from the Middle East (my parents live out there and had been taking care of her outside, but she kept getting sick and injured). So I think she misses being outside sometimes, but she's become so much more friendly and cuddly since coming inside. So I think it ended up being good for her.

Do what is best for your cats safety. 
My boyfriends mum lets my cat out and it’s ok for now but I’m worried, rural town and she’s a Ragdoll ($300).
Don’t let your cat out. When I move to the city she will be back to indoor. There are so many ways to keep your cat entertained inside.
Remember that once it is gone, it is gone forever and you don’t want to live with the regret.

We live in the country and our cats go inside and outside all the time and they love it. You could always try walking your cat. It’s nice that you even think about this because most people don’t. When really cats and dogs are animals who were meant to be outside. I can’t think of a single person that would want to be trapped in the house all day long until they died.

My oldest cat thinks he wants to go outside, he sits at the door and begs and tries to sneak out. I have a leash for him and have taken him out and he freezes, his face is like oh no this is the biggest mistake I’ve ever made. My other cat couldn’t care less about outside, she never goes near the door and one time I tried to take her out with the leash and she ran away to hide under the bed. I had 5 cats growing up, 2 of them hated the outdoors and the others loved it.

There was a study a few years ago that indicated that an indoor cat’s quality of life is no different than a cat that goes outside. In fact, it might even be higher given the greatly reduced risk of being safely indoors. That said, it really is your responsibility to make sure an indoor cat has entertainment and opportunities to exercise. There is a bird toy (called “da bird” I think) that my friends’ cats literally jump through the air to catch. They get good exercise that way.
