How do I go about getting a tattoo? Location ideas?

So I’m a tattoo virgin and am wondering where I even start to go about getting a tattoo. Can I send a picture and get a quote or do I just make an appointment and go in? Will I be able to swim with a new tattoo? 
Also I really wanted this tattoo on my inner finger but they apparently fade a lot so does anyone have any suggestions where else I could put it? Thanks! xx

In my encounters, you can text or dm artists and either schedule to come in or get an estimate. I have a rose on the inside of my rose, a butterfly on my ribs, and one last one on my bicep. I love my bicep placement. It’s a spot I can hide or show off easily. Most people don’t even notice I have a tattoo on the inside of my wrist. Definitely start out small! And good luck!

First of all, it's good you're going small for your first tat, this way you can see if you even can tolerate the pain or even like tattoos. 
So, the insides of your finger is not the best, they fade waaayyy to quickly. Maybe try the outside of your ankle, on your lower wrist, your hip bone, under your bra line, too of your big toe (witch don't fade as bad believe it if not, it was my first tat & it still looks great after two years!). But, you also have t consider pain, & your pain tolerance. Ribs, wrist, foot/toe, hurt the most for me. 
So, you can walk into a tattoo shop & see if they can take you at that time. If not, most will schedule an appointment with you. Tattoos artist job is to put what you want on your body & make you happy. If they're a good tattoo artist, they will answer all your questions.

That's not true on your tattoo fading on your finger inside outside doesn't matter...It ALL comes down to who does it for you.

go in person to talk to a professional  tattoo artist about the tat, color, placement, etc. 
finger tattoos fade very fast which really makes them not worth it in my opinion. maybe somewhere on your ankle/foot?
