Does social media ruin relationships?

I love social media. He hates it and doesn't want me in it for the fear of my exes trying to contact me and he says it ruins relationships. What do you think? Are you in or have been in a similar situation? I know trust is a huge factor.

I think it can yes. mostly from the lack of communication people have with each other due to being on your phone's.  it can ruin your own self confidence that can ultimately ruin your relationship with both your mind and SO. if creates jealousy making family and friends into enemies. social media just sucks.

I think somebody is going to cheat, they will with or without social media. I do believe that social media makes it a bit more tempting to cheat, and definitely gives people easier access to do it. 
I have had to delete ex’s off of social media before, because after a bad fight I saw them when I was scrolling down Facebook and was tempted to message them in the heat of the moment. I guess it depends on each individual

I think they aid in bringing about downfalls of relationships and people focusing to much on the online world than what is going on in the relationship. A couple should be together and talking instead of wondering why they were "left on read" "streaks" (whatever the hell that it) likes and heart eyes. Have actual conversations on the phone or in person.

I deleted social media when getting into my relationship with my now husband. Being off it I feel made life so much better and give me more time to focus on our family. I don’t have any worries about Facebook world, what’s going on in Facebook, and who is doing what. To me social media isn’t important. I love the focus and spare time I get without always needing to be or checking my phone.

Only if you let it. If social media causes problems, it’s time to look into deeper issues ie jealousy, trust, etc

Lol, all these people saying yes... My husband and I have been together for 6 years, have always used social media, and it has never caused any issues. It depends on the individuals and how they use social media.
