Help!
My baby who is just shy of turning 5 months caught a nasty bug. His Peds dr said it was bronchiolitis. Told us to try infant cough medicine, and gave us a sample of it. It’s been about 5 days since his coughing started, which has turned into wheezing. Well today a fever hit him, ended up taking him to the ER because it spiked to 103. Been giving him Tylenol every 4 hours and a luke warm bath to help keep it below 100. At the ER they gave him an X-ray to check for pneumonia. Final diagnoses is RSV. No breathing medications or antibiotics were given. They told us to keep up on the Tylenol for his fever, to use a humidifier, and bulb syringe for his nose. They sent us home 😢 Well it’s been about 5 hours and his fever spiked back up to 103. So I stripped him down and put him in the tub, and gave more Tylenol. What else can I do for him? He’s just so tired, and cranky. He’s still eating just not as much. I know to keep trying to push fluids, and I’m watching for any signs of dehydration. I’ve been sitting in the steamy bathroom with him a couple times a day, patting on his back. I have 2 older children and neither of them have ever had RSV. Feeling a little helpless. I just want my baby to feel better.
