Period and chest pain?

I'm 24 and get chest pain usually on the left side above my boob the day before and the first few days of my period. This has been going on for about 8 years and I've seen a doctor and they just shrugged it off and said I could always take a pain killer if it gets too painful. It's not just sore breasts because the pain is more internal.. is this kind of normal? Does anyone else get this?
 Nothing makes the pain go away besides waiting it out..it's not consistent pain either. It's not so bad that I can't go about my normal day, it's just annoying if anything.

Have you been checked for having a pneumothorax?  (Lung collapse). I've had this happen to me.  For women with reoccurring, it usually happens with the menstrual cycle.

Mine is usually my left side under my boob and it's sharp and usually starts a week berfore my period on and off I usually have to move positions frequently to make it more comfortable. It's alarming but has happen for so many years. It's just a norm now. it slightly gets worse every few years but not to the point we're im unable to do things.
