I'm scared to tell my friends

Ok so me and this boy at my school have been talking for a while and on Friday we went for a date together. Slowly more people from school have found out, and today I wasn't in but apparently quite a lot of people were talking about it. I'm new to this school and I'm friends with this group of girls and I was so scared to tell them for a couple of reasons: first, I was involved with this other guy who is this guys close friend (eeek I know it sounds bad but honestly the situation isnt as cut and dry as it sounds!) we never dated or anything but it became a huge thing that everyone knew about and was extremely toxic and difficult . And then the other reason I put off telling them is because I was so nervous to go on this date that I actually couldn't bring myself to talk about it to other people, plus I thought it would sound weird if I just announced it out of the blue.

Apparently the girls have been talking about it and wondering why I hadn't told them. So I'm worried now they'll think I was being shady and think I'm glade or something.

Ahhhhh what to do ladies?!!!!!
