If the ultrasound looks abnormal will doctor come in and look or will they still make you wait to talk to you about results?

Answer

I’d say in general, doctors tell you immediately. There’s no medical benefit to waiting to tell you, and there is a benefit to preparing early for complications. They also don’t have the worry (like a friend might feel) of not wanting to burden/scare you - they have an obligation to tell you what’s happening to your body and baby. Even if they need additional tests to confirm, they should for sure tell you what the tests are for.
My nurse told me what she was looking for (presence/structure of arms and legs, bridge of nose, two hemispheres of the brain, fluid in neck, heart and heart rate, spine, other visible organs, etc), and confirmed with each one that they look good.

Our scan looked good and they said my doctor would call to discuss. If there was an issue I’m sure they would have come in or called shortly after.

Dr should come talk to you if issues, we had no issues and the nurse came and reviewed the results.
