Discipline advice to headstrong toddler?
So, I have one of the most headstrong yet sensitive toddlers I’ve ever met. He’s 17mo old and 99% of what he does is normal toddler behavior (getting into things, standing on chairs, throwing toys, some tantrums)... BUT he still needs to learn not to do these things.
We’ve tried timeouts and that kinda seems to help, but I’d like some other ideas as well since timeouts aren’t always an option. Redirection doesn’t seem to faze him at all. When he wants something he doesn’t give up or forget. Maybe a different way to talk to him?
I don’t believe in corporal punishment, expect maybe a tap on the hand, especially since even stern words can hurt his feelings so much. I want to discipline without breaking his little heart.
