If he’s so compassionate, where is his compassion for his wife? A person who cheats on his/her spouse is not loving or compassionate. In my opinion, there is nothing attractive about that type of person. Not someone I’d consider an ideal mate. First of all leave him alone & have more respect for yourself than to be with a married man, also think about what it would feel like if you were the wife, which leads me to... Second once a cheater always a cheater, what’s to stop him from doing it to you. Third, he will most likely string you along saying he’ll leave her when he has no intentions to, so don’t waste your time. Why would you want to be a “homewrecker”, if he’s going to cheat & be scum, don’t let it be you that gets that label. 
Also you clearly need to leave your bf this is also unfair to him because you’re clearly unhappy & stringing him along isn’t fair.
