Mom vs Museum

Read this article recently about a mom who is being asked to pay for $100,000+ statue in a community center after her kid knocked it down. The information is shady as these things always are but from my understanding the parents were in another room attending a wedding when this happened and there’s a video of the kid blatantly climbing/pulling on the statue until it falls over. The community center is asking for the parents insurance to pay for the statue, but the parents don’t feel they should as it was in a community center where kids are allowed and there was no case/rope around the statue or any “do not touch” signs.
