My belly button exploded

so I've had my belly button pierced since February of this year and today at work it was irritated and sore for no reason so I put antibiotic ointment on it I know that's a No-No but at the moment it helped and right now I just took off my belly button piercing and there was a bubble so I popped it and it was gross and now it's bleeding what just happened my belly button exploded I've never dealt with an infected belly button piercing for so help?
