Sources in CC

I thought it would be productive to have a discussion about how we all back up our views on here. A few points for discussion:

• Should the person making a claim back it up, the person challenging it provide research, or both? Are sources necessary at all?

• What criteria do you use to evaluate sources? Are there any media outlets you trust implicitly, or any you automatically reject?

• Do you have a source ready when you post/comment or try to find one to back up your views later?

Bonus question just for fun. Do you consider the US president to be a reliable source of facts?
