Does anybody own a 2ds?

Question

Not just like “my kid owns one:) I’ve never used it though” like I’m seriously considering buying one and I have a few questions?
can you play 3ds games on it? 
Can you play with people who own switches like with friend codes ?

I have both the 3ds and 2ds. When you start out you will make a mii character and get a friend code.  You give out your code to friends and add their friend code in your friends list. You can play with them on games like animal crossing, monster hunter4 etc. You can also trade items depending on the game as well as pokemon with your friends. There is no cross / multi platform trading or playing. You can easily join communities for certain games on facebook/ reddit etc and trade with people, or receive help. I personally play animal crossing, story of seasons, pokemon (currently ultra moon, but have all), zelda, monster hunter 4.

A 2ds can play 3ds games and it has a friendcode but I don’t think it is a cross-console situation. Pretty sure you can only use it for people who have 2d or 3ds.

I had one when I was younger, I don’t think you can use 3ds games with it
