Tantrums? How to stop it?

She just turned one year old. Recently, she has been throwing tantrums if she isn’t being held or if she isn’t on my boobs. At the house or in public. Screaming plus crying tantrums. Some say it’s an early terrible twos. How can I stop her from throwing tantrums?

Ignore them completely. Give her lots of attention when she isn’t doing it. Make sure she somewhere safe when she does it. Good luck

I never ignored. I always communicated and gave options and then let them “choose”. Basically I said you can continue to throw a fit and choose bad and THIS will happen... or you can choose to calm down and choose good and THIS will happen. Then I stuck with whatever I had told them the “this” would be.

I just turn my 1yr old daughters attention to something else that I know will draw her interest away from whatever she is upset about. If I keep it positive, it is much easier & the crying ends almost immediately. Continuing to say no, take things away, etc., only causes the crying to continue.

My 15 month old was really bad with tantrums when she turned one. We tried ignoring her but she would start headbutting things to get our attention because she noticed that the first time she did it we reacted. We started giving her a quick pat on the butt (nothing hard neither one of us are fans of spanking and only when she was headbutting things) and firmly saying no then going back to ignoring her. It worked to stop the headbutting but not the tantrums. Luckily she has never once had a tantrum in public only at home or at grandma's house. By 15 months she doesnt have tantrums nearly as much. I guess she just grew out of them? She has maybe 1 a day or less compared to the 6 or 7 a day she was having before.

get down to her level like get down on one knee and talk to her and calm her down when she wants to nurse try to introduce a sippy cup and try to drink out of it first to show her ok this is what you will be drinking out of now and find a spot to sit for a minute or two until she calms down
