Travel for ivf?

I recently got the devastating news that I am unable to conceive without ivf. I’m stuck in my head at the moment, trying to decide if I can handle the ivf schedule. One big problem, I live in southern Oregon and my doc feels I’d need to travel either to Portland or San Francisco for treatment... but the ivf schedule sounds so intense! Will I need to stay near the clinic for the whole cycle?

I live in a big city but had schedule constraints because of work.
At my clinic we had the cycle day 3 visit to check and start suppression and then I had a visit before I started stimming (3 weeks later) to check that everything was good. Then my next appointment wasn’t until day 6 of stimming but then the next week it was every other day or every day for blood draw and ultrasound until the day of retrieval. If I was far away- I feel like those first two visits may be worth the drive each time and then plan to stay locally for a week to 10 days from day 6 onward as you approach retrieval day. Airbnb can be helpful or a lot of hospitals have deals with local hotels for discounted rates for patients that have to stay local for medical treatment - I would ask to either talk to the clinic social worker or financial counselor as they will have access to those resources.

There is a lot of monitoring throughout the ivf cycle. I was going to the doctor 2-3 times a week and then every day the week leading up to retrieval. It’s a very involved process.

The clinic I’m going to do does everything local but for the egg retrieval and transfer I have to travel close to 240 miles. Maybe you can see if there’s a similar option for you.
